The management teams of the JISRA, 1000 Cahaya, SMILE, and GreenAbility programs of Eco Bhinneka Muhammadiyah participated in the Eco Bhinneka Muhammadiyah Working Meeting, held on Monday, 12 January 2026, at the 6th Floor Hall of the PP Muhammadiyah Office, Central Jakarta. The meeting served as an important consolidation forum to strengthen synergy among programs while formulating strategic steps for the future development of the Eco Bhinneka Muhammadiyah movement.
In his opening remarks, Ahsan Jamet Hamidi, serving as the meeting facilitator, emphasized that Eco Bhinneka Muhammadiyah does not operate under a single majelis or institutional body, but rather functions as a program unit under the direct coordination of PP Muhammadiyah. He also noted the strong support from PP Muhammadiyah leaders, such asProf. Syafiq A. Mughni and Dr. Saad Ibrahim as Program Advisors, whose guidance continues to strengthen the direction and sustainability of the movement.

“This working meeting aims to ensure that all teams have a shared understanding of ongoing programs, while connecting various initiatives without diminishing the unique character and identity of each program,” Ahsan explained. He underscored the importance of cross-program collaboration so that each initiative can mutually reinforce one another and amplify collective impact.
The Eco Bhinneka Muhammadiyah Working Meeting began with presentations from the program managers of JISRA, 1000 Cahaya, SMILE, and GreenAbility. Each presentation outlined the program profile, key achievements, and proposed linkages and collaboration opportunities with other programs. The session was then followed by a question-and-answer discussion, as well as feedback and strategic guidance from the Director of Eco Bhinneka Muhammadiyah to strengthen the direction of future initiatives.

Hening Parlan, Director of Eco Bhinneka Muhammadiyah, stated that the organization’s core strength lies in its interfaith approach, with environmental issues serving as a shared bridge. According to her, building interfaith understanding cannot be achieved solely through meeting-room discussions, but must be realized through concrete actions on the ground.
“Environmental issues are the entry point. Mutual understanding cannot be built only at the table; it must take place in the field,” said Hening.
She further emphasized that the sustainability of Eco Bhinneka Muhammadiyah depends on the responsible stewardship of funds that generate tangible impacts directly felt by communities. “The challenge ahead is to develop good practice models in one or two locations that can be replicated, while ensuring that each program adds value—not merely as a project, but positioning Eco Bhinneka as a movement,” she added.

One of the strategic agendas highlighted during the meeting was the development of the Eco Bhinneka Academy. As the Ministry of Religious Affairs has begun using the term Eco Theology in government-funded programs, Eco Bhinneka Muhammadiyah sees an urgent need to establish a benchmark through the Eco Bhinneka Academy, which is planned to be launched in the near future.
In closing, the Director of Eco Bhinneka Muhammadiyah delivered several strategic directions to strengthen institutional capacity and expand program impact, including the development of modules or guidebooks based on local experiences. Additionally, Eco Bhinneka Muhammadiyah is encouraged to actively promote local government policies—such as waste management regulations in South Halmahera—and to strengthen partnerships with Muhammadiyah youth networks, including IMM and IPM.
The working meeting reaffirmed Eco Bhinneka Muhammadiyah’s commitment to advancing interfaith collaboration and transforming various program initiatives into a sustainable socio-ecological movement with broad and meaningful impact for communities.
