Jakarta, April 14, 2025—The Indonesian Minister of Primary and Secondary Education and General Secretary of the Central Board of Muhammadiyah, Dr. Abdul Mu’ti, delivered strategic guidance to Eco Bhinneka Muhammadiyah’s management team during a courtesy visit to his official residence in the Menteng area of Jakarta on Monday (14/4).
During the one-hour meeting, the Eco Bhinneka Muhammadiyah team presented updates on the program’s progress, current challenges, and achievements to date, while also receiving strategic direction from Dr. Mu’ti.
In the discussion, Dr. Mu’ti emphasized the importance of developing a more sustainable and impactful Eco Bhinneka Muhammadiyah program. “Eco Bhinneka Muhammadiyah should further explore its programs, seek more sustainable models, ensure activities are efficient and impactful, and aim to gain recognition in international forums that discuss environmental issues,” he stated.
He also highlighted the importance of fostering environmental awareness in schools through the 4R principles: reduce, reuse, recycle, and reproduce. “Schools that successfully implement renewable energy should be encouraged to establish partnerships with strategic stakeholders, serve as models for replication elsewhere, and be scaled up into a broader movement,”
In addressing the energy crisis, Dr. Mu’ti stressed the need to align the Adiwiyata school paradigm with the development of renewable energy. “The Adiwiyata paradigm should be directed toward promoting renewable energy, as this could be one of the solutions to the energy crisis,”
Regarding sustainability and academic reinforcement, Dr. Mu’ti also underlined the importance of proper documentation and scholarly publication. “It is important to carry out thorough documentation so that this program can result in scientific publications through academic journals,” he concluded.
